Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to extract useful concepts from the field of language policy research to facilitate studies in the field of corporate language strategy. Language policies are used when a national government that has a specific purpose related to language, intervenes with the country’s language environment or the language itself. Different countries have their own unique purposes. Some scholars in the field of global business communication have argued that countries with strong language policies(e. g. Singapore)can provide a model to consider corporate language policies. This paper attempts to extract theoretical ideas in the area of language policy and apply them in the area of companies’ English mandate in order to enrich the theoretical base of the field.
