Move Analysis on Abstract of International Business Journals: How to Negotiate with Your Reviewers

Abstract


This study explores how to develop persuasive discourse strategies for Abstract of business research journals. In order to investigate how researchers send clear messages regarding the contents of their studies, the move analysis was used to account for specific word usages and their cluster expressions in 54 abstracts of the representative four journals in this field. The results indicate that there are specific ways to start move 1 of the Abstract in individual journals. However, the following moves have similar contents in all journals. The researchers in this genre use effective vocabularies to develop moves for reporting detailed experiment procedures in Method and significant research findings in Result. In the last move, they discuss relevant implications and impact on the research fields as Conclusion.
