Membership

 

The Japan Business Communication Association (JBCA) is a society of communication researchers in the fields of  international  business transaction and management. We have a history of more than 80 years, dating back to 1934 when The Japan Business English Association, our predecessor organization, was founded.
We welcome those interested in the research and practice of international business communication to become a member.

About JBCA:
The Japan Business Communication Association (JBCA) is a society of communication researchers in the fields of  international  business transaction and management. We have a history of more than 80 years, dating back to 1934 when The Japan Business English Association, our predecessor organization, was founded. JBCA is a registered academic organization with the Science Council of Japan and a member of the Unions of National Economic Associations in Japan.

Our Objectives: 
1. Research on communication in international business transactions and management.
2. Exchange of knowledge and relationship building among members of the association, and with related academic societies or organizations in Japan and abroad.

Our Activities:
1. To hold an annual national conference for members to present their research and exchange opinions.
2. To publish an annual research journal and other publications.
3. Other research-related activities.

Regional Chapters:
JBCA is comprised of three chapters; Kanto, Kansai, and Kyushu-Yamaguchi. Members will belong to one chapter in their proximity. The Chapters hold research meetings up to three times a year, in addition to the above-mentioned National Convention.
The JBCA membership is categorized into regular members, graduate student members, corporate members, and supporting members. In principle, to join JBCA, two regular members are required as introducers. However, if you do not have an introducer, please contact the director of a branch near you or the headquarters office.

  1. Application as a regular member.
    In principle, this category is open to anyone who belongs to a university (or college), a research institute or a company. The annual membership fee is ¥8,000.
  2. Application as a graduate student member.
    This category is open to anyone who is enrolled in a graduate school. The annual membership fee is ¥4,000.
  3. Application as a corporate member
    This category is open to corporations that agree with the objectives and activities of JBCA. The annual fee is ¥20,000 for every person in the given organization who wishes to become a member of JBCA.
  4. Individuals and organizations willing to support JBCA are welcome to join as supporting members.
