Greetings

Conference Chair
The ABC 12th
Asia-Pacific Conference 2013
As the captain of
the steamship “ABC Asia-Pacific 12” sailing from Seoul in March, I am very
delighted to announce that the ship is now approaching her final
destination port, Kyoto. I heartily wish to extend my sincere gratitude to
all of the officers and crew for their hard efforts to have made this safe
voyage possible.
To all the
prospective participants, I will happily welcome you to Kyoto next March.
It is often said that Kyoto is to Japan as Florence is to Italy and
Granada is to Spain. Kyoto has more than 3,000 Buddhist temples and Shinto
shrines. They attest to its importance as a religious focal point. These,
with the impressive Imperial Palace, are reminiscent of the aesthetic
splendor of the city’s once pivotal role.
The conference venue
is Doshisha University, which is located just next to the Imperial Palace.
The campus, with red brick buildings, is situated between the Imperial
Palace and Shokokuji Temple, one of the Five Great Zen temples in Kyoto
with its spacious precincts. You can stroll about these nearby journeys
through pages of history while you attend the conference. You can even
experience Zen meditations, if you so wish. As you can see from this
website, Zen is the conference theme.
The art of business
communication, much like Zen, is best practiced when simple, clear and
focused. As Zen is about being present in the moment and free of
distracting thoughts, so also is effective business communication. All the
participants will be able to recognize, understand, and appreciate this
Zen-like philosophy of simplicity once you have visited this ancient
capital town of Kyoto.
Please come to Kyoto and Doshisha next March. We will heartily welcome
you. Your trip to Kyoto and participation in the conference will be a
rewarding experience.
